ABSTRACT

A fundamental problem underlying any enterprise which is also common place in Nigerian banks is how the workers of the financial institution (banks) can be SO organized, developed and managed in order to attain the highest level of efficiency, productivity, thus this study, was done to ascertain the impact of job satisfaction on productivity in the banking sector of the Nigerian economy. The correlational and survey research design was employed in this study to ascertain the relationship between job satisfaction and productivity. Total number of questionnaires used for the analysis is 65 to bank consumers and staffs. The responses of the participants were scaled on a 5 point Likert scale and the research question was answered using frequencies and percentages while the hypotheses were tested using correlation and descriptive statistics. It was found
 that there is positive and significant relationship between job satisfaction and productivity of employees in the Nigerian banking sector as seen in correlation coefficient equal to 0.767 andp-value equal to 0.000 < 0.05; there is a significant relationship between employee performance and organization productivity in Nigerian banking industry as depicted by correlation coefficient of 0.647 and pvalue of 0.000 < 0.05;. Based on the findings, it was recommended amongst others that Banks in Nigeria financial industry should give priority and invest increasingly in creating a conducive, favourable and interesting work environment for workers in order to sustain high level of job satisfaction and sustain increased productivity
