ABSTRACT
The study titled "Assessment of Teachers' and Students' Attitudes on Utilization and Maintenance of School Facilities in Secondary Schools in Kaduna State, Nigeria" was conducted to explore various aspects related to the use and upkeep of educational facilities. The research was guided by eight objectives, one of which included examining the attitudes of teachers and students towards the utilization of teaching facilities in secondary schools in Kaduna State, Nigeria.

Corresponding research questions were developed to address these objectives, such as investigating whether there is a difference between teachers' and students' attitudes toward the utilization of school teaching facilities. Additionally, the study formulated several null hypotheses, including one that posited no significant difference in the opinions of principals, teachers, and students regarding the attitudes of teachers and students toward the utilization of school teaching facilities in secondary schools in Kaduna State.

The study adopted a survey research design, with a population of 323,431 participants, including principals, teachers, and students. A purposive stratified sampling technique was used to select four educational zones representing the three senatorial zones in the state. A sample size of 382 was determined using a research advisors table for sample selection.

Data were collected through a structured questionnaire titled "Teachers and Students Attitudes on Utilization and Maintenance of School Facilities Questionnaire" (TSAUMSFQ). The instrument was validated by supervisors and statisticians for content and face validity and was pilot tested to ensure its statistical fitness for the main study. The bio-data variables of the respondents were analyzed using simple percentages and frequency counts, while the research questions were addressed using mean and standard deviation. The study's null hypotheses were tested using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) at a 0.05 level of significance.

The results of the hypotheses testing showed that six of the eight hypotheses (1, 2, 3, 6, 7, and 8) were rejected, while two (4 and 5) were retained. The study discovered, among other things, that both teachers and students agreed that teaching facilities are adequately utilized in secondary schools in Kaduna State, Nigeria. Similarly, they affirmed that learning facilities are also adequately utilized.

Based on these findings, the study recommended that school management in Kaduna State should continue to make sustained efforts to ensure the proper utilization of teaching facilities in secondary schools. This ongoing commitment to facility utilization is expected to promote effective teaching and enhance the overall educational experience in the region's secondary schools.
