ABSTRACTThe purpose of this study was to see the effects of Hausa written poetry reading on the interest and behaviour traits of S.S.S. I students. It attempted to find out the SS II students' effects on Hausa written poetry on behaviour. The findings tell us whether the poetry has effects on students' behaviour, and if not, what recommendations are to be given to improve the areas needed to be improved. This study adopted Rukunin da aka koyar design method and used a sample size of 100 students across SS II students from two schools. Three differents Hausa written poetry "Wa}ar Mu Nemi Ilimi", "Wa}ar Zambon {azama" and Wa}ar "Yar Gagara" were adopted as instruments of the study. The study employed T-test in testing the hypotheses and descriptive statistics according to the students' Kaso and Adadiage in analyzing the data of the study. The study discovered that SS II students that have been given treatments have Mataki na biyu behaviour than those treated with conventionalmethod. It finally recommended to add Mataki na biyu behaviour in Hausa curriculum and to establish a benchmark as this will enable the students and the teachers to understand the Mataki of academic improvement of their students from time to time in terms of Mataki na biyu behaviour. It also recommended recruitment of more Hausa teachers as well as improvising Hausa reading materials
