ABSTRACT
The purpose of research is to discover answers to questions through the application of scientific procedures. Though each research study has its own specific purpose, this study concentrates on the following objectives: finding out the purposes of the use of Internet by staff and students of Nuhu Bamali polytechnic, Zaria, examining the academic use of internet by staff and students of Nuhu Bamali polytechnic, Zaria, evaluating the opinion about internet in promoting teaching and research of Nuhu Bamali polytechnic staff and students, zaria, identifying the problems militating against a full and effective utilization of Internet by the staff and students of Nuhu Bamali polytechnic, Zaria, and to find out the level of academics satisfaction with the available Internet facilities in promoting teaching and research of Nuhu Bamali polytechnic staff and students, Zaria. In the process of the investigation, the researcher gave the general introduction of internet, definition of terminology, a brief background of Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, statement of the problems, and the scope and limitation of the study. A qualitative research design is adopted for this study. The method will be appropriate and suitable for the study since the study is descriptive in nature. The populations of the study are Nuhu Bamali polytechnic, Zaria, were academic staff and students of School of Applied Science and School of Management Studies form the sample of the study. The main body of the research consist of the concept of internet, internet in Africa, use of internet in Nigeria, Academic Use of Internet and Social Media, internet for educational purpose, internet as E-learning technology, function of internet, resources available on the internet, impact of internet on library and information services, internet management & security, internet monitoring, Protecting the Internet from threats, the regulation in use of internet, Problems Associated with the use of Internet for Educational purposes. The main body of the research consists of the data presentation, logical Analysis of data and major finding of the research.
