The study is to assess the impact of Universal Basic Education (UBE) programme on Girl Child Education in Jigawa State. The study is designed to achieve the following objectives: examine the impact of UBE program on enrolment, retention and transition, evaluate the effectiveness of the policy framework for delivery of Basic Education; examine the role of school as it affects Girl- Child Education; efforts of UBE in minimizing gender disparity in education, and assess the quality of basic education. Descriptive research method was employed; stratified sampling technique was used in selection of the sample size in line with Krejcie and Morgan (1970).a total of 783 copies of structured questionnaire were used for data collection. Respondents comprised teachers, parents, and principals. Data were analyzed along the study objectives and research questions. Items were scored in frequency and percentage with mean score computed on five point interval scale used for the test of hypotheses and P>0.5 was used i.e. any f-value that is below 0.5 was rejected. Scheffe test was used to compare the mean scores by the different groups. Out of the eight hypotheses, two were accepted and four rejected. The research study discovered that the role of the school environment was adequate but parents did not agree with this opinion, finance for UBE programme for the Girl-Child was not transparent, institutional capacity to deliver Girl Child Education in the state was adequate, policies for the implementation of the Girl-Child Education in the state were found effective, UBE had significant impact on the enrolment and retention of the Girl Child in school. The researcher recommended direct intervention by government at all levels in the supervision of the programme to enhance teaching and learning and also some checks and balances should be instituted in the respective agencies responsible for implementation of UBE program,
