ABSTRACT
The study titled Assessment of Influence of Domestic Responsibilities on Married Female NCE Social Studies Students? Academic Success in Kano State. The study used survey research design and 370 out of the total number of 1315 married and unmarried female social studies students of NCE from Federal College of Education, Kano and Sa?adatu Rimi College of Education-Kumbotso, Kano were used as sample in the study. Purposive sampling technique was used to select the sample and. A questionnaire titledDomestic Responsibilities and Married Female Students Academic Achievement Questionnaire (DRAMFESAQ)was used as data collection instrument. The study answered three (3) research questions and tested three (3) null hypotheses. The data analysis tools were percentage and frequency counts, mean and standard deviation and independent t-test. All hypotheses were tested at 0.05 alpha. The study revealed that On the basis of study level among the NCE students, both NCEII and NCEIII students agreed that domestic responsibilities influence the academic successes of married female students in social studies in the two Colleges of Education surveyed.In addition, both FCE and SRCOE students affirmed that domestic responsibilities affect academic successes of married female students in social studies in the study area.Similarly, both married and unmarried students concurred that domestic responsibilities influence the academic successes of married female students in social studies in the study area. It is based on the above that it can be concluded that domestic responsibilities influence the academic successes of married female social studies students in Colleges of Education, Kano state-Nigeria. In the light of the above, the study recommends the need forgender re-education, Provision for supportive educational environment, Provision for legal protection for women, the need to encourage progressive tutorial programmes for social studies married female students, and the need to create "female-friendly" participatory learning environment in social studies department, among others.
